[Lumiun News] Link access control with another group

One of our favorite things to do here at Lumiun is meet our customers' needs with new features. So, nothing better than telling you more about this news, as we have developed a feature to link access control with another group , meaning it has become even more practical to configure new groups.

Follow the article to understand how this feature can be used.

What are Groups?

Firstly, if you are not yet a Lumiun customer, I need to explain to you about the groups feature. If you are already a customer, skip to the subtitle “ Let’s get to the news ” below.

If your company is using Lumiun, all equipment (computers, cell phones, tablets, etc.) and/or users who connect to the internet are linked to Groups. From there, you can create several groups and drag devices or users between them to better organize access control.

For example, you can create a group called “Management” and drag the directors' equipment into it, or create a group called “Finance” and drag the financial department's equipment into it.

With the equipment organized between groups, you can then allow or block sites and categories only for the equipment in a certain group. In addition, you will also be able to view in detail all accesses to the equipment of a given group.

If you want to know more details, watch this video .

Let's get to the news

This update will make it much easier to create new groups and avoid wasting time adding sites and categories of sites with blocking or release times.

Linked group registration

As you can see in the animated image above, we have added a new field on the Group registration page called “Link access control with another group“.

This field is optional and if you select an option, the group being created or changed will obtain the same access control and security as the selected group .

Replicate access control to linked groups

Now you can register the rules in a single group and replicate them to all those linked automatically. You can also create a new group starting with pre-defined rules and then remove the link continuing with the previous rules. Or, remove the group link and clear all access control and security rules.
