Microsoft and IDC jointly carried out extensive and complete research with the aim of mapping the world of virtual crimes throughout Latin America.

Based on the research, the entities created a complete infographic with the data collected on cybercrimes, numbers of connected devices and the technologies available to face security risks.

Numbers of cyber attacks in 2015

  • Brazil – 27 million attacks
  • Mexico – 16 million attacks
  • Colombia – 5 million attacks

Evolution in the number of devices

  • 2012 – 227 million, 38% mobile
  • 2016 – 577 million, 76% mobile
  • 2018 – 700 million, 80% mobile

In relation to the movement of values ​​via electronic commerce, the research points to a jump from US$ 30 billion in 2012 to US$ 105 billion by 2018.

The infographic also mentions the requirement for greater responsibility from organizations based on regulatory frameworks. This creates new needs for companies in relation to measures to combat network security threats.
